Emory’s “Celebrating the Life of President Carter” event took place on February 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Glenn Memorial Church on the Atlanta campus. The event was open to all current and former Emory students, faculty, and staff, including Emory Healthcare.
The event celebrated the extraordinary life of President Jimmy Carter and featured remarks and reflections from Emory President Gregory L. Fenves, Carter Center CEO Paige Alexander, renowned epidemiologist William H. Foege, Jimmy Carter Professor of History Joseph Crespino, and associate nursing professor Dorothy Henry Jordan. Former Emory presidents James T. Laney, William M. Chace, James W. Wagner, and Claire E. Sterk were featured in video reflections. Other participants included the Rev. Robert M. Franklin Jr., Rev. Gregory W. McGonigle, Rabbi Jordan Braunig, and the Voices of Inner Strength Gospel Choir.
